“I love your husband, mommy!”

Call To Prayer

VA TechCampus Crusade has initiated an International Call To Prayer for the Virginia Tech community today (Thursday). They have even set up a website which gives more details of the Call To Prayer and insight from those involved in the tragedy. The website is . I would encourage you to participate in some way as you recall the tragedy. And I would add to these requests listed that God will use this tragedy to bring people to know Him!
Also, on that website there are very moving, and emotional posts from some of our staff that are at VA Tech (a Crusade movement of about 500 students). There are reportedly 4 students that were involved in Crusade that were killed. And there is one girl, Molly, who was the first witness after the initial shooting that morning on her dorm floor. The emotional devastation of all this is endless. I just can’t even imagine!

Nicholas decided to learn how to go Potty! I say he decided because quite frankly, I was not even remotely interested in trying to train him. I just was not ready to deal with accidents or reminding him to go or needing to go find a potty in the store when we are out and about, etc. And for the longest time, when we would ask him if he wanted to learn, he would say NO. He could’ve cared less about it!
With Natalie we tried the whole, what I call “Potty Training Boot Camp” before she was 2 yrs old. And it did not go over well AT ALL! So, I relaxed on it, put her back in diapers, and a few months later she decided to do it all by herself! And that was great! I think the girl has maybe had 3 accidents in her whole life because she was ready and it was her decision.
Well, this weekend Nicholas said he wanted to go potty. So I got the little potty down from the closet and he sat on it a few times. Nothing ever happened. And so I figured no biggie (afterall, I wasn’t ready anyway). So, one time he said he needed to go and I told him to just to go by himself and sit down (thinking nothing would happen). He comes out a few minutes later saying (real nonchalantly), “I need to put my diaper back on.” And I say, “Oh, did you go in the potty?” To which he replied, “yea.” (like no big deal).
So we all ran to the bathroom to check and sure enough he did!!! We were so excited! It cracked us up that he was so aloof about it!!! Although pretty typical of his personality.
He has caught on to the excitement of it all now (especially since we gave him candy) and wants to go all the time! Only one accident so far, and I sure hope it stays that way!
Here is a picture of him in his new big boy, Lightning McQueen underwear (hilarious what we moms get excited about and post pictures of, huh?):

Uninvited Guest

We had an uninvited guest with us in the mountains with us.

birdThankfully it wasn’t a snake, this time it was a bird!

Jason went out to get something from the car, and when he came back in the house…a bird followed him in! It was quite humorous! The crazy little thing would not leave. He was flying all over the place, so frantic, I’m sure. We had the door open and he sat right on the door, but wouldn’t go out.

It took both of us to trap him and maneuver him out the door!

Thankfully that was the extent of our wildlife encounters. However, we did spot some deer on the drive to the house. That was cool!

Mountains or Beach

While in Georgia this past week, Jason and I had the great treat of going to the North Georgia mountains by ourselves for a couple of nights! Thanks to Gram and Pop for watching Natalie and Nicholas!!!

We had such a wonderful time! Lots of relaxing, sleeping, eating out, reading, and fun! I even kicked Jason’s tail in the “Pass the Pigs” game. (of course, he kicked mine in “Sequence”, but who needs to mention that).

riverIt was really nice to be in the mountains, especially since we do not experience that setting often. We were blessed to stay at a friend’s parent’s cabin. It was wonderful! My favorite part was the river behind the house, which made this tremendous rushing water sound!!! Oh, and my other favorite part…the whirlpool bathtub. As you may recall from our bathroom remodel, we don’t have one of those. So, I enjoyed it very much!!! We also were pleasantly surprised by our eating out experiences, which I will write about in another post.

As we were there, I pondered what I preferred more – the beach or the mountains? And I must say, previously I would have said the beach, but this trip to the mountains is creating a discrepancy in my opinion now.

So, what about you – are you a beach or mountain person? And why?

stop lightNicholas told me to “GO” today.

I explained to him that we were at a “stop-light”.

Natalie said, “Where’s the Go-Light?” 🙂
